Government agencies keep the city running in order: issuing IDs, enforcing the law, providing healthcare, and managing the economy and businesses.
Citizen Affairs Office
The agency that receives and manages resident records across the city of Meridian.
Role: The primary point of contact for whitelist applications, issuing citizen IDs and maintaining the identity records of every resident.
Powers: Holds the authority to approve, reject, or revoke citizenship status and to manage updates to identity information.
Meridian Police Department
The law enforcement force responsible for protecting public safety and order.
Role: Patrols, investigates crimes, and responds rapidly to emergencies across the jurisdiction.
Powers: Holds the power to arrest, search, file violation reports, and detain suspects in accordance with the law.
Department of Health
The agency overseeing medical and emergency services for all residents of the city.
Role: Operates teams of doctors, ambulances, and hospitals to care for and treat the public.
Powers: Holds the authority to coordinate emergency response, issue public health regulations, and manage medical records.
Department of Transportation
The agency managing the transportation system, vehicles, and road infrastructure.
Role: Issues driver's licenses, registers vehicles, and oversees urban traffic safety.
Powers: Holds the power to issue and revoke licenses, manage vehicle inspections, and enact traffic laws.
Department of Justice
The agency representing the justice system and ensuring justice is upheld.
Role: Conducts trials, prosecutes cases, and protects the legal rights of citizens before the court.
Powers: Holds the authority to indict, sentence, issue court orders, and supervise the enforcement of the law.
Department of Economy
The agency that plans and regulates the economy of the city of Meridian.
Role: Manages public budgets, monetary policy, and oversees market activity.
Powers: Holds the power to set taxes, adjust interest rates, and issue economic regulations applying citywide.
Department of Labor
The agency managing employment, labor relations, and workers’ rights.
Role: Connects residents with career opportunities and ensures fair working conditions.
Powers: Holds the authority to set the minimum wage, resolve labor disputes, and authorize hiring.
Business Oversight Board
The agency overseeing the operations and legal compliance of businesses in the city.
Role: Monitors business operations, audits compliance, and protects consumer rights.
Powers: Holds the power to inspect businesses, penalize violations, and suspend unlawful operations.
Business Licensing Center
The agency that processes applications and issues licenses for all lawful types of business.
Role: Guides procedures, reviews applications, and issues licenses so individuals and organizations can start a business.
Powers: Holds the authority to grant, renew, and revoke business licenses, and to collect licensing fees as prescribed.
